People Groups
What is a People Group?
- A People Group is “a significantly large grouping of individuals who perceive themselves to have a common affinity for one another because of their shared language, religion, ethnicity, residence, occupation, class or caste, situation, etc., or combinations of these.” For evangelistic purposes it is “the largest group within which the gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance.”
What is an Unreached People Group?
- An Unreached People Group is “a people group within which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians able to evangelize this people group.”
Purpose
To give glory to God for the many great things that are happening among the peoples of Ethiopia
- God is doing some great things amongst many People Groups in Ethiopia while other People Groups need new and varied efforts as they remain unreached.
- The data currently published in many international mission research resources is out of date or inaccurate.
- We feel God will be glorified by giving an accurate account of the current status of the Gospel in each People Group in Ethiopia and that this can be a tool to mobilize more work among Unreached People Groups.
To encourage all ministries serving in Ethiopia to focus attention on the task remaining
- Our hope is that all ministries in Ethiopia will be aware of the current status of the Gospel in Ethiopia, then both renew and further their efforts for the unreached.
- To provide all ministries in Ethiopia a tool by which they can devise their own strategies to further the Gospel. We are not trying to formulate some type of national strategy.
- If this website does lead to some collaboration between ministries then we welcome that.
